FALSE COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT CASE
2019 TRICKEY filed a copyright infringement case against an artist in SF Federal Court. The initial claim was an unspecified photo on TRICKEY’S Facebook page. The artist was never served and no proof of service was filed with the court. The case was dismissed for t)3 following reasons:
1. TRICKEY failed to state a cause of action;
2. TRICKEY failed to provide an image of item in dispute;
3. TRICKEY failed to provide a copyright registration;
4. TRICKEY failed to pay the $400 filing fee. She wanted a fee waiver claiming her $100,000 salary couldn’t
cover it.
SADLY, it was the taxpayers of SF who paid for TRICKEY’S folly. She wrote her filing on CCSF time; used
CCSF computers and the SF City Attorney Margaret Baumgartner signed off in it.
