I was nearly murdered at one of their group homes
I applied to this agency for placement in a group home, which is compulsory for folks sentenced under the PSRB. After saying I’d been accepted they spent two years making excuses not to place me in either of the two houses for which I was waiting. For two years they claimed I was next on the list, as other patients at OSH who had arrived after me were jumping ahead of me to go to the Cascadia program. Twice they said they had an opening and at the last minute found some emergency that necessitated giving the room to someone else and telling me to keep waiting. My peer recovery specialist did some investigating and found out that I was not paranoid, the director and the manager of the house to which I’d been scheduled to be placed both didn’t want me there and were in fact conspiring to keep me out, hoping I’d give up on them and reapply somewhere else. I’d been telling my treatment team this for a year, they didn’t believe me and told m to keep waiting. When my counselor found out that they were purposefully stringing me along she called the director, Alison Bort, and chewed her ass. I was then promised the next opening at a coed group home. Literally the Friday before the Monday I was scheduled to move in they found an excuse to again give the room to someone else. But they said it would only be for two weeks tops, and that I could go to another house in the mean time. This was a house for males under 25. I’m neither. The other situation ended up being permanent and I was stuck in the all male house, and Cascadia management lied telling me there were no violent or sex offenders there. After being there two months I was attacked by one of the thugs who lived there for no apparent reason. He snuck up behind me while I was watching television in the living room and tried to bludgeon me to death with heavy poles he’d brought into the house. He then tried to break my neck and strangle me; the one staff member on duty, a frail older woman, witnessed this and called 911. I slipped away, ran to my room and locked the door and he kicked it in and entered my room to attack me again before fleeing and absconding when the staff got the cops on the phone.
Cascadia staff were more concerned with shielding this violent psychopath from consequences than my well being and made sure the cops didn’t file charges for the numerous felonies he committed. The cops refused to take a statement from me, would not collect evidence (pictures of the broken door, the weapons, my broken hand and blood and contusions on my arms), they refused to identify themselves or contact their superior. They were extremely rude to me and left, later filing a one page report calling it a “mutual domestic altercation” and claiming no harm was done. I went to the hospital where my broken hand was x rayed and they falsely told me it wasn’t broken but didn’t show me the x ray. Three days latermy hand swelled up like a balloon and I went to my doctor’s clinic and had it x rayed again and it was clearly broken. My attacker was later found and returned to OSH briefly, and I was revoked when I threatened a lawsuit for negligence. My attempted murderer continued to harass and threaten me at the hospital, along with all his friends as he had gotten there first and lied to everyone about why he attacked me. I’m not sure what he’d told people but everyone took his side, including the PSRB. I saw a publicity photo displayed in the hall at the hospital of Governor Brown signing a bill to allow certain people with GEI convictions to expunge their records. There were several patients in the office around her desk who apparently had lobbied for the legislation. My attacker was standing right next to her. He had a slap on the wrist to begin with, a 5 year sentence whereas I got 20 for the fictitious crime of burglary for being at my own house. It turns out nobody wanted this violent thug to get any additional time for the new crimes he committed so that he could go ahead and get his record expunged and be released into the community without supervision to continue his criminal behavior. They even waived the “mandatory” 2 years of extra time they’re supposed to give a person for absconding. Cascadia took this creep right back and he got out many months before me. The director of Cascadia, Alison Bort was then given a new job as chairperson of the PSRB and has since presided over my two subsequent frivolous revocations. I’m permanently banned from Cascadia’s program even though I was the victim in the situation.
They definitely show bias in favor of non-white clients, and that had a lot to do with the way they handled the situation. They also tried to tell me how to dress, saying I could not wear lace leggings, I had to wear solid leggings when I’d go to their treatment center, where the women working there all wore short skirts with no leggings. They complained about a shirt I wore because it had a swear word on it, saying I had to go home and change (a clear first amendment violation since they are a govt contractor). They also reamed me out for taking a drink of water from my Betty Boop flask that I keep with me (I don’t have room in my pockets for a water bottle). They said it might trigger someone because it’s a flask, as if flasks are only useful for containing alcoholic beverages. I asked why this is so inappropriate when the guy who comes to conduct the weekly AA meetings wears a Miller High Life shirt every week and they never say a word to him. They claimed they’d never noticed. A guy wearing a red shirt with a huge, familiar beer logo on it, who happens to be leading the group which is attended by all the staff. Everyone’s eyes are on this guy while he’s doing most of the talking and week after week they never noticed him wearing a shirt advertising beer, at an AA meeting that I’m required to attend, as part of a “zero tolerance” clean and sober program. And they’re worried about me drinking water out of a container with a cartoon character on it because I might trigger one of the addicts. And the staff who are obvious weed smokers (not that there’s anything wrong with that) are playing Bob Marley during treatment groups and know all the lyrics. They’re not worried about this triggering anybody. They also reamed me out for sniffing nasal tobacco snuff, saying it would trigger someone with a drug problem (I was trying not to smoke cigarettes).
They made up a new rule to back this up, just on account of me as they often did. I’m a former weed smoker, but they weren’t concerned that people smoking hand rolled cigarettes and listening to Bob Marley might trigger me. They were overly focused on me and nitpicking everything I did looking for any excuse to revoke me, and then they revoked me because one of their pet patients tried to kill me. These people are absolutely reprehensible. They are criminals and actively aided and abetted the coverup of an attempted murder and fraudulently revoked me to silence me and prevent me from seeking legal assistance. I’ve read the other complaints from folks who went there seeking treatment-the reason they don’t help these people is because they make their money off of people sentenced to the PSRB. They house them in their group homes and tie up every minute of their time with pre-schoolish mental patient busy work activities so they can make $1,000 a day or more off each victim. They are condescending, authoritarian and treat the clients like children at a day care center. The state should not be allowed to sentence people to mental health “treatment” and then pay a private company to carry out the imposition of the sentence. This is tantamount to private prisons, which are not allowed in Oregon because of the obvious ethical problems inherent in such an arrangement. They get paid a lot of money to work with people labeled as mentally ill but will revoke a person at the first sign of disobedience to their tyranny or any symptoms of mental illness. They apparently can’t help a person with mild psychiatric symptoms, despite their training and the fact that the taxpayers are shoveling money into their pockets to act as a mental health treatment facility.
At the first sign of symptoms they revoke you back to the nuthouse. Even if the symptoms are brought on by an attempted murder by another one of their clients with whom I was negligently placed.
